Ethical Codes and Values

YTU Community Members;

They are prudent, conscientious, honest and virtuous individuals who have a free and scientific power of thought, a broad worldview and respect for human rights.

YTU STUDENT ETHICS CODES

YTU Students;

• They act with the awareness of social responsibility and social awareness,

• They use all the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the education process for the benefit of humanity,

• They respect the rights of their friends and the staff of our university who serve them,

• They carefully comply with the safety rules in all its works and warn those who do not comply,

• They do not extort the rights of other students during registration periods,

• They fulfill all the requirements of the courses they take,

 • They give importance to cooperation in group work; they do not benefit from the efforts of other students,

• They do not engage in deceptive behavior towards the academic staff and do not help those who do.

COUNSELING ETHICS CODES

YTU Students;

They follow the decisions taken for them in academic and administrative matters and the office hours announced by their advisors and do not give misleading information to their advisors.

MAIN BEHAVIORS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW ACADEMIC ETHICS CODES

Cheating:

• Exchanging information with others in exams,

 • Using sources or data that are not allowed in exams,

• Writing additional information in books and/or other resources allowed to be used in exams,

• Taking all or only a part of an assignment, project and/or report from another student, professional, or source and presenting it as one’s own.

 

Patterns of plagiarism:

• Benefitting from printed or published sources without specifying the source,

• Using quotations from different sources without citing the source,

• Using the results in a source as they are or by changing them partially without citing the source,

 • Duplicating lecture notes or materials belonging to the instructor without the permission of the instructor and allowing others to use it.

 

The main behaviors for cheating are:

• Taking exams on behalf of others and/or processing attendance and/or directing others in this regard,

• Showing unused resources as if they were used,

• Presenting someone else’s ideas as their own

• Having all academic research and work done by someone else.

 

ETHICAL VALUES REGARDING DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT

• YTU Community Members; treat each other’s differences with respect and tolerance based on issues such as race, color, language, sect, gender, origin, marital status, political or religious belief, family, social or cultural background, and sexual orientation.

• All kinds of harassment are evaluated not within the narrow framework determined by the law, but within the scope of ethical principles.

• In the event of abuse and the use of force and influence, the applications of faculty, students and staff who think that they have been exposed to or witnessed harassment are handled seriously within the framework of principles of confidentiality.

• Information about individuals is not disclosed during professional service unless required by law. Individual data privacy rules are implemented.

• Those in managerial positions do not engage in professional harassment that restricts the personal rights of individuals working in the institution and harms their careers.
